MAC Tag!

Hey Chickies,

I have realised what a daunting prospect of going into MAC can be, there are so many colours and formulas and all the different shade systems. I get a lot of questions from friend about MAC and all the colours and products. When I came across this Tag on the lovely Zoellas blog (link here) I just had to have a crack at it.

Hopefully this can help some of you and give you some sort of insight into what I would high rate and products that I could go without!

How long have you been using Mac?
I started getting into MAC about 2 years ago when I was 19 and I started working in Soho and venturing out to MAC on my lunch breaks.
What was your first Mac product?
MAC Lipstick in So Chaud (an orange/red matte lippy)
What's your all time favourite Mac product?
I would have to say MAC Rule Eyeshadow it really compliments my eye colour J
What's your least favourite Mac product?
An eye shadow duo I got in a Christmas collection, I gave it away such a long time ago I can’t even remember the name! It had absolutely no pigment.
Do you own a Pro Card?
Nope L
Your Mac foundation shade:
NW20 – NW25

Face and Body Foundation, it has the most gorgeous finish.

Rule

I love all of my MAC lipsticks but if I really must chose it would be So Chaud or Rebel

I haven’t really dabbled into their Lipglosses

The 266 brush for brows and gel liners, just beaut!

I do not own any mac nail polishes, crazy I know!

I own MAC face and body I am not sure if that is a product but its bloody good!

Comment on the following Mac product; Have you used them? If so, give feedback.

Prep + Prime Skin:
Never used this before.
Full Coverage Foundation:
Never used this before. I can imagine it being very heavy from trying it in the shop.
Studio Sculpt Foundation:
I bought from a recommendation from a friend who has fantastic skin thanks to this foundation, but unfortunately with my combination/oily sensitive skin type this foundation just broke me out, however it does look gorgeous on dry skin.
Face + Body Foundation:
AMAZING! Almost zero coverage but it is buildable; it has the most beautiful finish and looks so natural.
Mineralize Satin Finish:
Never used this before.
Studio Fix Fluid:
I have used numerous samples of this foundation and I really like it for a night out as it is a very heavy foundation – heard its perfect for oily skin but not great of dry skin.
Studio Tech Foundation:
Never used this before.
Studio Fix Powder:
I like this powder for a night out as it is very full coverage if applied over a foundation, however if I am just sporting a bit of concealer this is perfect for small dusting over the face.
Beauty Powder:
Never used this before – I have always wanted to try one but never taken the plunge!
Sculpting Powder:
Never used this before.
Loose Blot Powder:
Never used this before.
Pressed Blot Powder:
Never used this before.
Mineralize Skinfinish Natural:
I adore this powder, use this with the face and body foundation and bit of concealer and yours on to a winner!
Mineralize Skinfinsh:
I have two of these, I can’t say I gravitate towards them a lot but when I do I really like them.
Bronzing Powder:
Surprisingly I have never even looked at a mac bronzer before, I haven’t heard great things about them so I have never thought to check them out – let me know if you know otherwise!? J
Powder Blush:
I have about 6 Mac blushers and I love them all, I think Mac blushers my just be my favourite blushers, I have been wearing Sunbasqued for around 2 months now so at the moment this is my favourite of them all!
Blushcreme:
I own Ladyblush and I love it for that subtle pop of colour.
Mineralize Blush:
Never used this before.
Gel Blush:
Never used this before.
Cream Color Base:
I have Shell and I really like it but I do have a problem with it sticking to areas of my face after a few hours wear.
Studio Sculpt Concealer:
Never used this before.
Select Cover Up Concealer:
Really like this concealer, but with my combination/oily complexion it doesn’t stick around for to long!
Select Moisture cover Concealer:
Lovely for undereyes but bad for blemishes!
Studio Finish Concealer:
I love this for blemishes and redness as it completely full coverage. It is drying to it would be a nightmare under the eyes, but I love it neither the less.
Pro Long Wear Concealer:
Best concealer for under the eyes, it banishes those pesky bags and stays all day! Sometimes I even use it as an eye shadow base as it has a super staying power technology.
Lip Erase:
Never used this before – I have seen this used and as the name suggest once applied your lips will look non existant!
Tinted Lip Conditioner:
Never used this before. SHOCK!
Lipstick:
Best lipsticks EVER!
Lip Pencil:
I really like these! They are so soft and don’t bleed into fine lines. Brilliant for that super polished lip look.
Nail Lacquer:
Never used this before.
Paint:
Never used this before – I imagine this to be more of a theatrical make up product.
Paint Pots:
LOVE LOVE LOVE These! I use these as eye shadows bases or simply on their own for a wash of colour! I have three and plan to get many more.
Eye Shadow:
These bad boys are top of my list taking over my beloved urban decay palettes, I gradually building my collection, I almost have enough to fill my palette! (I cannot tell you how excited I am about this!)
Pigments:
I have a list of pigments I want to try but I haven’t taken the plunge yet.. Maybe when I go to Florida I can pick up a one or a few..
Glitter:
Never used this before – Again I imagine this to be for the theatrical makeup artists among us.
Eye Kohl:
I have smoulder but I wasn’t the biggest fan, they are a tad to slip slidey for me.
Fluidline:
I use Bobbi Brown or Maybeline.
Lustre Drops:
Never used this before, I will have to try these though, I love a good liquid high lighter.
False Lashes:
I have had a few pairs of these and I really enjoyed them, they are soft and natural but still give that drama to the eyes.
ProLash Mascara,Zoom Lash Mascara,Plush Lash Mascara, Dazzle Lash Mascara:
I tried Zoom Lash and liked it but I prefer my Maxfactor Flash Lash Effect or Lancome Hypnose.
What has been your favourite Mac collection to date?
I haven’t been overly fused with any collection to be honest, I like particular products not so much collections, saying that I did love the Archie’s Girls Collection it was very cute kitch!
Which Mac collection, in your opinion, do you think was disappointing, if any?
I wasn’t over the moon with the Marilyn Monroe Collection, although I saw one of the nail polishes and had to buy it for my best friend – I hope she like it.
What products do you think Mac are missing?
A good medium coverage foundation for oily skin and a permanent liquid highlighter – they do have most bases covered.

I hope this post wasnt to long and boring, but I love MAC and I have been using it for a while and still have only just come to terms with how to choose carefully!

Hope this helps!

Until Next Time,
Jess
